Ingredients:
- 900g Granny Smith apples, cored and sliced 1/4-inch thick
- 100g granulated sugar
- 15g cornstarch
- 5g ground cinnamon
- 15ml lemon juice
- 2.5g pure vanilla extract
- 90g old-fashioned rolled oats
- 125g all-purpose flour
- 150g light brown sugar, packed
- 2.5g kosher salt
- 115g unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla until every slice is coated in the slurry.
- Transfer the apple mixture to a 9x9 inch baking dish and level it out for even cooking.
- In the same bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or fingertips to rub the butter into the dry ingredients until a crumbly texture forms.
- Evenly distribute the crumble topping over the apples. Bake for 35 minutes until the fruit is bubbling and the topping is golden brown and shattering.
